It's 9.23pm on a Sunday night. I dislike Sunday nights..I dislike Monday mornings even more; especially when there's tons of work waiting to be finished and I can't be bothered doing them even though they're overdue...
...what's wrong with me?
...and what do i wanna achieve?

For the sake of writing something
It's been ages...and am writing this just for the sake of writing something.
Listening to this...and the thought did cross my mind during the chorus - what an appropriate song for mid-life crisis :)
Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're 'here' not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can u see what I see
....Stop and Stare, One Republic

Something's Coming...
Could be!
Who knows?
There’s something’ due any day;
I will know right away
Soon as it shows.
It may come cannonballin’
Down through the sky,
Gleam in its eye,
Bright as a rose!
Who knows?
It’s only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Under a tree.
I got a feelin’ there’s a miracle (not!) due,
Gonna come true,
Comin’ to me!
...Something's Coming, West Side Story
and in my case, I think it's the Flu....
On the other hand, I've decided not to do something which I wanted to, but deep deep deep down it's not right and it doesn't feel right (to do it today, at least)...might have killed my chances of doing it again, but as least this time I won't feel guilty about it thereafter. So let the flu come, I'll still feel good.
:P

It's Friday
It's Friday and I'm not being effective at all in the office (have I ever been??). And it's getting dark and gloomy outside. Oh well...
We've got barefoot ladies and tricked out mercedes
And people getting crazy on the boulevard
We've got classic colas and ice cold corona's
And big pool parties in the back yard
Hey that's the way we do it
New friends and blue skies that never end
Hey that's the way we like it
Good times, sunshine and summertime

A little bird
There a nest in the bamboo tree in my house's porch. It's amazing how a mummy bird can make a nest out of scraps of paper, twigs and twine. This is not the first time (so my mom tells me). The mummy bird will build a nest, hatch its eggs and when the little birdies are big enough, the mummy bird will actually teach the little birdies how to fly (and my mom has been observing this). It's almost exactly how it's portrayed in Disney Cartoons (or National Geographic, for that matter) Then the nest will be left bare and my mom will remove it (and no, the mummy birds do not believe in recycling, my mom tried leaving it there...no tenants). Couple of months later, it will start all over again. I tried to take a pic this morning, but i kinda frightened the mummy bird away (bad boy).
Laws of nature....fascinating.

You better get to livin'
I must listen to upbeat songs
I must listen to upbeat songs
I must listen to upbeat songs
I must listen to upbeat songs
...ohm...
You better get to livin', givin'
Don't forget to throw in a little forgivin'
And lovin' on the way
You better get to knowin', showin'
A little bit more concerned about where you're goin'
Just a word unto the wise
You better get to livin'
Your life's a wreck, your house is mess
And your wardrobe way outdated
All your plans just keep on falling through
Overweight and under paid, under appreciated
I'm no guru, but I'll tell you
This I know is true
You better get to livin'
The day we're born we start to die
Don't waste one minute of this life
Get to livin'
..You Better Get To Livin', Dolly Parton
(a perk-me-up song and country too, what more can I ask for)

Happy April Fool's Day...
...whatever that means.
I doubt if anyone play pranks anymore other than giggly schoolgirls and cheeky schoolboys trying to catch the attention of the giggly schoolgirls. Maybe as we grow older, April 1st just comes and goes like any other day; full of despair, deadlines and demands.

Confidence
Oh, I must stop these doubts, all these worries
If I don't I just know I'll turn back
I must dream of the things I am seeking
I am seeking the courage I lack
The courage to serve them with reliance
Face my mistakes without defiance
Show them I'm worthy
And while I show them
I'll show me
I have confidence they'll put me to the test
But I'll make them see I have confidence in me
...I Have Confidence, The Sound of Music

A little good news?
Quite appropriate for a Monday...or for the state of our community/country... or even for the world in general...here's wishing and hoping for World Peace
Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today
And in the hills of Gaza, all the children had to do was play
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA
We sure could use a little good news today
...A Little Good News, Anne Murray (duet with Indigo Girls)

Another year
One year and eleven days ago I told myself:
"This new year,
Let me not envy what I don't have,
Let me cherish what I have,
And be comfortable with who I am and what I stand for"
I can't say for sure that I've managed to do all of that so there's definitely room for further improvement (in other words...i didn't achieve my last year's resolutions).
Oh well, I got another year to do it and I'll add two more lines to it:
"Let me see the situation from your eyes
And let me listen to what you want me to hear"
As for the workload, bumps and challenges in this coming year ahead...
Many nights we prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains long
Before we knew we could
Easy to despair
When all you hear is fear and lies
Easy just to run and hide
Too frighten to begin
But if we dare to dare
Don't wait for answers from the skies
Each of us can look inside
And hear this song within
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe
....When You Believe, Leon Jackson

A new toy

Cause the world keeps spinnin'
Round and round
And my heart's keeping time
To the speed of sound
I was lost til i heard the drums
Then i found my way
You can't stop the beat!!
....You can't stop the beat, Hairspray
You can't stop the beat indeed, esp on the new iPod Touch...a sleek new toy and I'm grinning from ear to ear :)

Reflections
I love this song, be it the Lea or the Christina version. If you know me and who/what I am, maybe you'll know why.
But then again, we all have skeletons in our closets (although some closets are bigger than others), don't we?
What does your reflection show you?
Can you recognise who that is staring straight back at you?
Look at me
You may think you see who I really am
But you'll never know me
Every day, is as if I play apart
Now I see if I wear a mask
I can fool the world but I can not fool my heart
Who is that girl I see
Staring straight, back at me
Why is my reflection someone I don't know
Somehow I cannot hide, who I am though I've tried.
When will my reflection show who I am inside.
Must I pretend that I'm Someone else for all time?
When will my reflection show who I am inside?
...Reflections from Mulan (Lea Salonga/Christina Aguilera) <-- if only they will do a duet of this song :)

Way back when...Ribena was
This came to mind while drinking Ribena a while ago...
I can vaguely remember a time when the smallest of treats can trigger great excitement...even something as simple as a new mechanical pencil or a soft serve ice cream cone from the corner 7-11. Perhaps it's due to the fact that even such small treats were hard to come by back then and the thought of getting one was just pure delight.
Well, that was way back when...nowadays, I don't even bat an eyelid from misplacing a white gold ring studded with loose diamonds (I know it's not like a "double-digit carat" rock, but they are diamonds anyhow, small as they be).
Way back then...Ribena was a treat for which I will savour every last drop, now I gulp them down like plain water.
So much has changed since then, should I be worried at what I am turning into? Should I be scared
Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older,
When did they?
Sunrise, sunset,
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears
.....Sunrise, sunset; Fiddler on the Roof

Jelly isn't jelly till you set it
Stretch your mind beyond fantastic
Dreams are made of strong elastic
Jelly isn't jelly till you set it
Anything can happen if you let it
If you reach for the stars
All you get are the stars
If you reach for the heavens
You get the stars thrown in
...from Mary Poppins

Three dozen
As the boar comes and the dog goes away
May peace and prosperity come our way
As the pussy willows bloom in spring
May much happiness the new year brings
It's my year this year . . . I'm a pig (in more ways than one) and I'm three dozen years old to be precise
Gong Xi Gong Xi Gong Xi Ni....I've no idea who sang that ditty but it keeps getting blared from the radio this time of the year
